The 2017 SC Farmer Resource Rodeo will be held at the Phillips Market Center at the State Farmers Market on Thursday, April 6. Attendees will learn about the resources and programs available to provide technical, financial, and educational assistance to SC Farmers.
A Project Learning Tree (PLT) PreK-8 environmental education curriculum workshop will be held at USC on Saturday, February 18. The event is designed for pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and informal educators who want to use forests as a "window" into the natural world, helping young people gain an awareness and knowledge of the environment and their place within it. Register by February 15.
Conservation Interns will assist the Richland SWCD in the planning and implementation of conservation programs for agricultural producers, natural resource professionals, local food system organizers, preK-12 students, teachers, and/or the general public. Interested candidates should apply by February 24, 2017.
Kristin Ziegler, Lead Teacher for the School of Zoological and Botanical Studies (ZooBot) at Longleaf Middle School, has been named the 2016 SC Conservation Teacher of the Year for Secondary Education (7th-12th Grade) by the SC Association of Conservation Districts.
Nominations for Richland County Conservation Teacher and Principal of the Year will be accepted until April 10, 2017. Winners will receive $100 cash prizes and will be recognized at the District's Annual Banquet.
