Drainage System Maintenance

The County can lose a portion of its drainage system conveyance or storage capacity due to dumping, debris, sedimentation, and overgrowth of vegetation. When this happens, flooding can occur more frequently, impact more properties, and become ineffective for flood prevention.  

Generally, the stormwater system of the County consists of pipes, culverts, ditches, manholes, catch basins, inlets, outlets, and ponds. Pubic Works crews are scheduled to all perform maintenance on public ditches on an as-needed basis.

You can help too by doing your part by removing trash, leaves, mulch, grass clippings, and other debris from the storm drains, gutters, or drainage ditches. For more information on the County's Stormwater Management Division, take a look at their website.
