The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recognized Richland County’s Emergency Services Division in an online interactive journal that outlines the October 2015 historic rain and flooding.

The Richland County Weather Information Network Data System (RCWINDS) was cited for providing data from its network of observation weather stations, which helped state climatologists accurately document rainfall in the Midlands. The online journal is design to help assess the state's vulnerability to flooding in order to  raise awareness and work toward solutions to help the state become more resilient to future flooding.
