Event: Community Planning Week
Hosted by: Richland County’s Neighborhood Improvement Program
Dates: October 19, 2015 – October 23, 2015
Summary:
The Neighborhood Improvement Program will host a week-long celebration in honor of National Community Planning Month. The week’s events will focus on the various initiatives and services offered by NIP, the importance of environmentally sound planning practices and the benefits and challenges of progressive Community Planning in Richland County; an area that is both uniquely urban and rural.
Summary of Sessions:
10.19 | The Re-Introduction of NIP (Open to the Public)
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Location: 2020 Hampton Street | Council Chambers
The Neighborhood Improvement Program is 11 years old! As such, we would like to invite the residents of Richland County to join us for a presentation of the many impactful things we have accomplished together over our first decade!
We will also share the vision that will guide the future of the Neighborhood Improvement Program including upcoming projects, new initiatives and our updated logo! Join us in Council Chambers for a movie night experience as we celebrate the accomplishments of the program, the service of our neighborhood leaders and share our plans to reach higher heights in the upcoming years!
Doors open at 5:30pm; presentation to begin promptly at 6:00pm. Light refreshments will be provided.
10.20 | Tea and Talks: Getting to Know Your Planner (Invitation Only)
Time: 2:00pm – 3:30pm
Location: 2020 Hampton Street
The Neighborhood Improvement Program invites Richland County Council to join us for afternoon tea! Tea and Talks is a chance for County Council to dialogue with Neighborhood Improvement Staff about Neighborhood Master Plans, community engagement and plans to move the program forward.
This session is reserved for Richland County Council.
10.21 | NIP EXPO (Open to the Public)
Time: 10am – 2:00pm
Location: 2020 Hampton Street | 3rd Floor Atrium
The Neighborhood Improvement Program would like to invite partner organizations, departments and neighborhood leaders to join us for a discussion of the accomplishments of the program over the last 10 years.
We will also share the vision that will guide the future of the Neighborhood Improvement Program including upcoming projects, new initiatives and our updated logo! Join us at 2020 Hampton Street in the 3rd Floor Atrium for a round-robin style presentation and the opportunity to address questions, concerns and ideas with Neighborhood Improvement Staff.
Drop-in from 10am – 2:00pm; light refreshments will be served.
10.22 | Nature in Your Neighborhood (Open to the Public)
Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Location: 2020 Hampton Street | 4th Floor Conference Room
Join Richland County Neighborhood Improvement, Conservation and Stormwater Staff for a hands-on educational experience focused on user-friendly ways to incorporate the benefits of natural and environmentally responsible practices into everyday life.
There will be takeaways and light refreshments at this event.
10.23 | Block City
Time: TBD
Location: Various
Block City is a hands-on, interdisciplinary exercise in community planning and urban design utilized to teach children of various ages what it takes to make a good city.
For three (3) Fridays in the month of October, to continue the celebration of National Community Month, the Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program Staff will visit a school in each local district to conduct Block City with an intermediate class chosen by the district.
