Richland County is joining several community partners in Forest Acres to help residents clean up in the new year.
The “Green Congregations’ Recycling & Shred Event” will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 North Trenholm Road. Local businesses will be on hand to offer services, and the following materials will be accepted:
• Paper for shredding – Shred With Us
• Computers and computer accessories (keyboards, monitors, printers, scanners); TVs and stereos; household electronics, such as VCRs, DVD players, power tools, radios and fax machines; small appliances, such as microwave ovens; any other small household items with power cords, such as telephones, pagers and answering machines – eCycle Secure
• Scrap metal, stoves, washers, dryers, bicycles, metal door frames, metal chairs and shelves, lawn mowers (must be free of gas and oil), refrigerators and air conditioners – CMC Recycling
• Tires from cars, light trucks and smaller vehicles, bicycles and wheel barrows. Limit eight.
The “Green Congregations” are several houses of worship in Forest Acres: Beth Shalom Synagogue, Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Bethel United Methodist Church, St. James United Methodist Church, Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal, Peterson Presbyterian Church and Tree of Life Congregation.
