A missing detainee from Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center has been apprehended and is back in custody.
The detainee, 38-year-old Charles Meador from the Columbia area, was discovered missing Tuesday morning during a 3 a.m. security check of the facility’s perimeter. Center personnel discovered a hole had been cut through the perimeter fencing close to the wood line surrounding the facility.
Meador was taken back into custody by the Lexington County Sherriff’s Department about 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center commends the Lexington and Richland County law enforcement divisions for their swift action in locating and returning the detainee to the detention center.
Meador is charged with resisting arrest, use of vehicle without permission, grand larceny and receiving stolen goods. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
