Effective immediately, Richland County will restrict all general debris burning for areas of unincorporated Richland County because of dry conditions and high fire danger.

County fire officials ask that residents continue to follow all burning regulations set forth by the South Carolina Forestry Commission, which can be located at http://www.state.sc.us/forest/fire.htm. All open burning in Richland County requires residents to contact the South Carolina Forestry Commission at 1-800-517-9638, before the burn is started.

Residents are reminded to practice safety when actively involved in open burning.
