Richland County will resume normal operating hours Monday, Sept. 17 as Tropical Storm Florence continues to weaken, reducing the threat of damage from heavy wind and rains experienced in other areas of the Carolinas.
Emergency officials continue to monitor the storm and anticipate no widespread concerns for the County at this time due to improving weather conditions. However, residents who live in areas prone to flooding should remain watchful.
Additionally, residents should be mindful of downed trees and limbs. Trees still could come down if they were weakened by previous rain and wind. Residents may report downed trees in public roadways by calling the Emergency Operation Center at 803-576-3439.
Also, brief heavy rain could cause “ponding” on roadways. Motorists are reminded to “Turn Around. Don’t Drown.” as standing water could obscure the condition of the roadway.
