One of the world's largest technology services companies announced today it is expanding operations in Richland County, creating at least 200 jobs.
Capgemini is a business consulting and information technology (IT) corporation headquartered in Paris, France, with 200,000 employees in more than 40 countries. The company acquired Columbia-based insurance and IT services from TCube Solutions, Inc., in February 2017 and opened a new office in the First Base Building at Spirit Communications Park in December. With this latest investment, Capgemini will expand its footprint in the First Base Building.
“Capgemini’s decision to locate this state-of-the-art technology center in Richland County is a huge stride in our community’s efforts to create knowledge-economy career opportunities and retain talented young people,” said Richland County Council Chair Joyce Dickerson, District 2.
The 50-year-old company specializes in business and technology consulting, digital transformation and service integration. It provides IT services for clients in various fields of business including automotive, insurance, banking, electronics, health care and natural resources. Hiring for new positions is underway, and those interested in joining Capgemini can view job listings and apply online at www.capgemini.com/us-en/careers/columbia.
“Our state has become a premier destination for companies looking to succeed, and the fact that innovative companies like Capgemini are locating here is further proof of that,” said S.C. Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “I’m excited to see the impact these new jobs will have on the Richland County community.”
The SC Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to this project. The SCCCED was established by the General Assembly to improve economic development efforts throughout the state. It is involved in recruiting new businesses and helping current business expand operations. The SCCED awarded a $400,000 set-aside grant to Richland County to assist with the costs of building improvements for Capgemini.
