Kudos to the Richland County Government who won the 1st Municipal Award and the 2013 Top
Corporate Award at the Bark to the Park event.
On Saturday, April 20th, 2013 Pawmetto Lifeline hosted the fundraising event Bark to the Park.
Thousands of walkers gathered at Finlay Park with their dogs to support the ending of pet
euthanizing due to homelessness.
After competing against more than one hundred teams, including Lexington County and the City
of Columbia, Richland County Canines, received the 2013 1st Municipal Award. In addition, the
Top Corporate Team Award was awarded to Richland County who had a major helping hand
from Team Mingo from the Richland County Fifth Judicial Circuit.
Big thanks to all the Richland County Government employees and councilmembers who
arduously promoted the event, walked, donated money and participated to support this cause.
Denise Wilkinson, CEO of Pawmetto Lifeline, stated: “The organization is extremely grateful for
the Leadership of Chairman Washington and Solicitor Dan Johnson who exemplified true
compassion for the homeless pets of the Midlands.” She continues by thanking Tony McDonald,
Richland County Administrator; Sandra Hynes, Director of Animal Care; James Hill, Assistant
Director of Animal Care and Justin Martin, Media Production Specialist for serving as Co-Chairs
for the Walk. This was a true collaboration that will help our community save more than 500
homeless pets.
