To incentivize Richland County high school students' participation in the SC Envirothon competition, the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) will pay the team registration fee of $175 for the first four Richland County teams who submit their complete registration packets to the SC Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR). Additionally, RSWCD will provide a stipend of $500 to the first four Richland County team coaches who submit their completed registration packets to SCDNR.
Conservation educators from the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) are available to present classroom conservation programs for schools and youth groups on a limited basis. All programs are correlated with SC science academic standards and tailored to each grade level.
Richland County public, private, and alternative schools are eligible to apply for up to $1,000 in grant funding to support conservation projects and youth environmental education initiatives through Conservation Education Mini-Grants sponsored by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).
The 2022-2023 Youth Conservation Poster Contest theme is "One Water." Richland County K-12 students are challenged to create a poster titled “One Water” to illustrate how and why it is important to practice good conservation habits in their watershed. Entries are due by Friday, April 14, 2023 and cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each grade level category.
The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and conservation-minded individual to fill the role of Community Outreach Intern working 15-20 hours/week from September 1, 2022 through May 1, 2023.
