The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD) seeks a Richland County Ag + Art Tour Coordinator. The Coordinator will chair the Richland County Ag + Art Tour Planning Committee and will oversee implementation of the 2025 Richland County Tour in accordance with guidelines provided by the SC Ag + Art Tour Director. Interested candidates should apply by September 16, 2024.
The 2024-2025 Youth Conservation Poster Contest theme is "Home is Where the Habitat is." We invite K-12 students in Richland County to create a poster showcasing the importance of protecting natural and managed habitats. Each poster must include the words "Home is Where the Habitat is" in the poster design. Posters submitted by Friday, April 11, 2025 will be eligible for cash prizes at the local, state, and national levels!
Each spring, teams of high school students gather to compete for the opportunity to represent the Palmetto State at the NCF-Envirothon competition. The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District will pay the team registration fee of $175 for the first three Richland County teams who submit their complete registration packets to the SC Department of Natural Resources.
Richland County public, private, and alternative schools are eligible to apply for up to $1,000 in grant funding to support conservation projects and youth environmental education initiatives through Conservation Education Mini-Grants sponsored by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District.
The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District, in cooperation with the USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service, will host the 2024 Richland County Local Work Group Meeting to discuss local natural resource concerns and identify conservation priorities for FY2025 Farm Bill Programs.
