Tell us about yourself.
Grew up on a farm in Blythewood, SC. Received an AS in Ag Equipment Technology (‘79) from ABAC in Tifton, GA, and a BS in Ag Engineering (’85) from Clemson University. Worked 11 years for Michelin in Maintenance Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Design, and Maintenance Management. Retired after 18 years of working for the SC Forestry Commission in wildfire control. Created Blythewood Pasture Services (1999-present) which provides agricultural services to farmers throughout the midlands of SC while encouraging management techniques that protect and conserve our natural resources. Operate Twenty Creek Farm producing grass-fed/finished beef and timber.
Why did you join the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD)?
My father, who was a district commissioner for 30+ years, encouraged me to serve.
What do you enjoy about RSWCD?
I get to work with so many “salt of the earth” people who share my passion for conserving our natural resources.
What do you wish to tell the community?
The RSWCD is a leader in Richland County that provides education and guidance to our citizens so we can all enjoy a healthy environment.
What is an interesting fact about you?
My grandfather and father were both RSWCD commissioners.
