The Conservation Teacher of the Year program, sponsored in Richland County by the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District, seeks to recognize and reward educators who prioritize environmental learning and teach their traditional curriculum through a conservation-minded lens. Previous Conservation Teachers of the Year have been champions of school gardens, outdoor classrooms, nature trails, recycling, upcycling, composting, water conservation and more.
Richland County's Conservation Teacher of the Year program seeks to recognize educators who prioritize environmental learning and teach their traditional curriculum through a conservation-minded lens. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 3, 2020.
Teachers at any public, private or alternative school in Richland County are eligible to receive this award. Prior winners are eligible to receive the award a second time. Self-nominations and nominations from individuals or groups who are familiar with the teacher’s activities related to this award are all acceptable.
The Richland County Conservation Teacher of the Year will receive a cash award as well as a $500 Conservation Education Mini-Grant for their school. He or she will also progress to the statewide Conservation Teacher of the Year competition sponsored by the S.C. Association of Conservation Districts.
