Fire Plan Review
The Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for reviewing site and construction plans for new construction, as well as existing development in the unincorporated areas of Richland County to ensure compliance with governing fire codes, based on use.
Site Plan Review
Richland County’s Fire Marshal’s Office reviews the following site plans as part of the 17 day Development Review Cycle for specific fire service features.
Change of Use
Major Land Development
Major Subdivision
Minor Land Development
Minor Subdivision

Construction Plan Review
Richland County’s Fire Marshal’s Office requires the submission of construction documents and plans for the installation of all fire protection systems and modifications to existing systems projects prior to the issuance of permits. The following permits may be required:
Fire Alarm Submittal
Sprinkler Systems Submittal
Automatic Fire Suppression Submittal
Operational
In addition to site and construction plan review, the Fire Marshal’s Office also requires submission of plans for the following assemblies and uses:
Fairs/Carnivals
Amusement Buildings
Exhibit/Trade Shows
Special Events
Fireworks Display
Temporary Tents/Membrane Structures
The Special Event Form shall be completed for the review of these applications.
