The Richland County Conservation Commission, Congaree National Park and Friends of Congaree Swamp invite the public to attend a historical marker unveiling and ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of the Bates Ferry Hiking Trail at Congaree National Park. The marker will be located along Hwy. 601 and recognizes the historical significance of Congaree River ferries.
The event takes place at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2. Parking for the location is extremely limited, so attendees should park at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 8801 Bluff Road, to take a shuttle to the park. The shuttles will begin running at 9:30 a.m.
